Hey Foogle Fam, Dex here. I’m sorry to announce we won’t have a show tonight; however, we did prepare one. Unfortunately, Adam has severe issues with his diverticulitis again and on his way to getting it checked out. With a new baby, a one-year-old, a kindergartner doing zoom-classes, and a teenager all at home due to COVID lockdowns, Adam and Mrs. Marf have their hands full. Please join me in praying for a speedy recovery and lasting health and support for them all.
In addition to the news we prepared for tonight’s show, I would like to address an additional topic that we seldom get to talk about on our platform: CENSORSHIP!
As you know, we self-censor our shows, explicitly trying to avoid the dreaded algorithms. While we don’t like doing this, we feel it’s a necessary step to help keep the Foogle Family together. Losing our community would be heartbreaking for so many Fooglers that come together throughout the week.
Censorship has not only affected our ability to talk freely, but it’s also affecting our nation and the conversations everyone is having or should be having right now about the upcoming elections. Just recently, we have seen some great channels taken down during the ghastly Qpurge. Many of these creators lost their livelihood overnight. It’s a damn shame our tech industry wields so much power.
Many of you have likely heard by now the most recent censorship against the free press. Just days before the final presidential debate, Twitter and Facebook decided to prevent Americans from reading a story put out by the New York Post. Founded in 1801 by Alexander Hamilton, the New York Post is America’s oldest continuously published newspaper.
To give you an idea of the level of censorship, Twitter not only banned the article but also locked the New York Post’s account, preventing them from publishing any content. As of today, the New York Post is still without posting abilities. Twitter also took the same action against many prominent authors who retweeted or shared the content.
To make matters worse, we have all but lost our free press. Just 15 years ago, you would have expected our media to fend off, with great disdain, this level of censorship. Now we have an MSM that is complicit in controlling the narrative and selective dissemination of information to We the People.
For these very reasons, we recommend that everyone in the Foogle Family subscribe to our Alerts email list. If we have censored content, we will distribute it via Alerts. If god forbid we lose a channel or platform, our Alerts email will be the fastest way to find the Foogle Fam.
Today a Senate committee held a hearing, calling Jack Dorsey (Twitter), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), and Sundar Pichai (Google) on the carpet. I highly recommend you review this hearing, and I’ll include a video link here in our Show Notes.
While I would love to be optimistic that our politicians, using FCC Section 230 reforms, could end the rampant censorship, I remain skeptical. Let’s not forget that these tech giants are just that, Giants, and they have bought their way into the pockets across both sides of the political aisle. I’m also wary that this may be a cover story for more advanced-levels of censorship or government regulation of “appropriate content,” something that should scare every one of us.
