basically Time: 00:19 wrapping up a Latin American tour that Time: 00:21 was aimed at strengthening relationships Time: 00:23 with countries like Iran that is also Time: 00:27 sanctioned by the U.S so basically Time: 00:30 anyone in the bad kids club he's looking Time: 00:32 to build these relationships with so the Time: 00:34 two nations are actually looking well Time: 00:37 let's just put it this way this is what Time: 00:39 they're telling us the two nations are Time: 00:41 looking at opportunities to collaborate Time: 00:43 in areas such as electricity generation Time: 00:46 biotechnology and Mining they also said Time: 00:49 they've they signed various agreements Time: 00:51 to enhance the cooperation between their Time: 00:54 Justice departments their Customs Time: 00:56 agencies and in telecommunications but Time: 00:58 as a reminder I will say Publix Time: 01:00 statements from meetings like this Time: 01:02 between these two leaders only provide Time: 01:05 selected snapshots of their discussions Time: 01:07 while they highlighted areas like Time: 01:09 electricity and biotech and Mining Time: 01:12 they may have also discussed sensitive Time: 01:14 topics especially those like Time: 01:16 strengthening military ties potential Time: 01:19 weapons placements trade agreements Time: 01:21 those topics are often because they're Time: 01:24 sensitive in nature kept away from the Time: 01:26 public discourse they don't want people Time: 01:28 to know this they it allows the leaders Time: 01:30 to control the narrative and maintain Time: 01:32 strategic ambiguity now just before Time: 01:35 visiting Cuba Rossi also went to Time: 01:38 Venezuela where he promised to increase Time: 01:40 trade and cooperation and petrochemicals Time: 01:42 and he also met with Danielle Ortega Time: 01:45 who's the president of Nicaragua now I Time: 01:48 will say the same thing applies we don't Time: 01:50 know what he talked about with them Time: 01:52 now let me read you this quote from the Time: 01:54 president of Cuba he says Venezuela Time: 01:57 Nicaragua Cuba and Iran are among the Time: 01:59 countries that have had to heroically Time: 02:01 confront sanctions threats blockades Time: 02:04 interference by Yankee imperialism and Time: 02:07 its allies with tenacious resistance Time: 02:10 that's the quote and it goes on he says Time: 02:13 this visit reinforced our conviction Time: 02:15 that we have in Iran as a friendly Time: 02:18 nation in the Middle East with which to Time: 02:20 confide and talk about the most complex Time: 02:23 Global issues now Time: 02:26 we have to understand the tone of this Time: 02:28 message we have to understand this is Time: 02:31 lobbed directly at the U.S this is not Time: 02:34 creating a inclusive message this is Time: 02:38 creating a divisive message against the Time: 02:41 Yankee imperialism as they call it or Time: 02:43 democracy as we call it you know they're Time: 02:46 building this relationship and they're Time: 02:48 building it around a common enemy and Time: 02:51 that is the US now let me remind you uh Time: 02:54 Cuba is also strengthening its ties with Time: 02:58 Russia and China again another countries Time: 03:00 that are also under sanctions and we Time: 03:02 know it seems like everybody that is uh Time: 03:05 you know an adversary of the US is sort Time: 03:07 of under sanctions but uh let's let's Time: 03:09 move off of the whole sanction part the Time: 03:12 the stuff that's really got me concerned Time: 03:13 is what we don't know is happening with Time: 03:16 this meeting uh Rossi has referred to Time: 03:18 his visit Time: 03:20 um with the Iranians you know key Latin Time: 03:23 American Ally as a turning point quote Time: 03:26 unquote turning point for their Time: 03:28 relationship here's what I'm really Time: 03:30 worried about Iran's growing Time: 03:32 relationship with Cuba could bring about Time: 03:34 various security and strategic concerns Time: 03:37 for the U.S first it's obvious the Time: 03:41 geographical proximity of Cuba to the Time: 03:44 U.S means that any potential Iranian Time: 03:46 influence or operations would be Time: 03:48 uncomfortably close like 90 miles out Time: 03:51 from our Shores that's pretty scary Time: 03:54 second the formation of a stronger Time: 03:56 relationship between their them as an Time: 03:58 alliance it's going to lead to a more Time: 04:00 robust and coordinated block of uh Time: 04:03 adversaries or nations that are opposing Time: 04:05 us so add them all to the list of allies Time: 04:09 that are you know you could call it Time: 04:11 bricks you can call it what you want but Time: 04:13 all of the adversaries to the US or to Time: 04:15 the West are building and creating their Time: 04:18 relationships so that's going to be a Time: 04:20 potential problem as well having Cuba in Time: 04:22 the fold there Time: 04:23 uh third the prospect of Iran sharing Time: 04:26 its military technology uh its Time: 04:29 intelligence and its operational Time: 04:31 capabilities with Cuba would pose a Time: 04:34 significant security threat so if they Time: 04:36 were to Stage support operations closer Time: 04:39 to the U.S territory what would that Time: 04:41 mean for them and what would it mean for Time: 04:43 us obviously it's a security threat for Time: 04:45 us and they're going to look at it as Time: 04:46 hey here's a great opportunity for us to Time: 04:48 get as close as we possibly can to the Time: 04:51 U.S Shores Time: 04:52 so let me remind you this too uh just Time: 04:56 the other day I ran unveiled its new Time: 04:58 missile called the fatah which claims it Time: 05:01 can travel up to 15 times the speed of Time: 05:04 sound and has a range of 1400 kilometers Time: 05:06 which is about 870 miles this could Time: 05:10 potentially uh be put in Cuba for all we Time: 05:15 know if this was in our back door so to Time: 05:19 speak or backyard however you want to Time: 05:20 think of it right there Hypersonic that Time: 05:23 close on land 90 miles off our Shores Time: 05:26 what would that mean to the security and Time: 05:28 to the uh the vulnerability of U.S Time: 05:32 territory Time: 05:33 that's pretty concerning so Time: 05:35 um just a reminder this new missile it's Time: 05:37 reportedly maneuverable which means it Time: 05:38 can travel in a regular path making it Time: 05:40 difficult to intercept of course you Time: 05:43 know there's some good things we did see Time: 05:44 potentially that some of these Time: 05:46 hypersonics from Russia were intercepted Time: 05:48 by our Patriot missile systems but I Time: 05:50 don't think we want hypersonics like 90 Time: 05:52 miles off our Shores Time: 05:54 um especially
