back and uh this Time: 01:52 was something that we covered but later Time: 01:54 down the road it's kind of looking back Time: 01:56 at the last week of events including Time: 01:58 many Internet outages uh the eib was hit Time: 02:01 Microsoft was hit a global attack uh Time: 02:04 there have been many many cyber threats Time: 02:06 and of course we covered uh several Time: 02:09 things now one of them was the Arctic Time: 02:11 cable that was cut now many people have Time: 02:14 been talking about this we actually Time: 02:15 covered this on the 14th which is now Time: 02:18 almost a week ago and now people are Time: 02:21 starting to talk about it's people are Time: 02:23 still not actually making some of the Time: 02:24 connections here so again Arctic sea ice Time: 02:27 Cuts Sub C cable causing lengthy Time: 02:30 Broadband outages in Alaska now if Time: 02:32 you've been following me on Twitter you Time: 02:34 would know that my entire city was out Time: 02:36 in fact multiple cities around Seattle Time: 02:38 were out of uh completely out of Time: 02:41 internet for at least two days in some Time: 02:43 areas and of course they now actually Time: 02:46 said that it was as vandalism so we'll Time: 02:49 actually uh I believe we have that here Time: 02:51 vandals cut the fiber in Tukwila and Time: 02:55 some said that it was a homeless Time: 02:56 gentleman who climbed all the way up a Time: 02:58 pole and cut three of the main fiber Time: 03:01 optic cables causing this massive Time: 03:04 massive outage now on the 17th the day Time: 03:06 that this happened there were many other Time: 03:08 outages in fact Florida in South Florida Time: 03:11 people were saying that they were out Time: 03:13 anywhere from three hours all the way to Time: 03:15 a full day and there were critical Time: 03:17 outages and on top of that the other Time: 03:19 providers there Atlantic broad Time: 03:22 Atlantic broad uh brand and then another Time: 03:25 one actually went out at the same time Time: 03:27 now some of these subsets of cable Time: 03:29 providers actually go off of say Time: 03:31 Comcast's main kind of infrastructure Time: 03:34 and get that now when Comcast went out Time: 03:36 many sub providers went out as well like Time: 03:39 Cox and Spectrum so in Cox and Spectrum Time: 03:42 basically they fill in the gaps so if Time: 03:45 you if say if you move somewhere they go Time: 03:47 okay what internet can we get everybody Time: 03:49 wants Comcast but sometimes they get you Time: 03:51 know left with a t uh you know uh Time: 03:54 whatever they used to call it the uh the Time: 03:57 slow internet that was through the Time: 03:59 cables and then of course uh the Cox and Time: 04:01 spectrum and all of these other Time: 04:03 providers and then some places don't Time: 04:04 even have that so they actually go Time: 04:06 through companies like Verizon and get Time: 04:07 cellular well across the country there Time: 04:10 was a huge outage on the 17th it was Time: 04:13 Nationwide but it was in multiple cities Time: 04:15 so it was contained in a lot of major Time: 04:17 cities and some cities recovered a whole Time: 04:20 lot faster but it seemed like something Time: 04:22 actually happened all at once now where Time: 04:25 this fits in again the Arctic sub-c Time: 04:28 cable they have not said 100 percent Time: 04:31 they are not 100 sure that this was a Time: 04:33 piece of ice that is what they're saying Time: 04:35 just like they said in Taiwan when the Time: 04:38 two undersea cables were cut previously Time: 04:40 uh between two of the islands they said Time: 04:43 oh well China a China boat did it both Time: 04:46 times one was a cargo boat and one was a Time: 04:49 fishing vessel and both times they said Time: 04:51 it was an accident right well this one Time: 04:53 they said that the ice actually cut it Time: 04:55 they did not provide proof for that in Time: 04:57 fact even the government website says Time: 04:59 they believe it was the ice and not uh Time: 05:02 something else now look at the date on Time: 05:04 this so this is June 14th Arctic sea cut Time: 05:07 subsea cable causing lengthy Broadband Time: 05:09 outages now this is Alaska this is also Time: 05:12 where uh the they have actually placed Time: 05:14 artillery and there are many bases in Time: 05:17 Alaska including some of them that are Time: 05:20 the closest to Russia now I don't Time: 05:22 actually have a map here but when you Time: 05:24 look at Alaska and where you look at Time: 05:26 where it is compared to Russia Russia's Time: 05:28 over here Alaska is here and that's why Time: 05:30 they have put a lot of anti-air and and Time: 05:33 different weapons and and Sam sites in Time: 05:35 Alaska and if you get to the certain Time: 05:38 areas Alaska is not very traversable in Time: 05:41 some areas if you may know Alaska Time: 05:44 actually did not have internet for a Time: 05:46 very long time and some places just got Time: 05:49 internet in the last decade as far as Time: 05:51 and we're talking about Cable phone Time: 05:52 everything uh they just got high speed Time: 05:55 in some areas very recently with the Time: 05:58 quintillion project uh the the line now Time: 06:01 that is what they say was affected it Time: 06:02 said widespread uh Broadband outages in Time: 06:05 Alaska have been blamed on an undersea Time: 06:08 fiber optic line being severed by Arctic Time: 06:10 sea ice Alaskan Broadband provider Time: 06:12 quintillion said that the break happened Time: 06:14 about 55 kilometers north of olatoc Time: 06:17 point due to ice scouring that occurs Time: 06:20 when floating ice drifts into shallower Time: 06:22 areas and finds the seabed damaging Time: 06:25 plant in animal ecosystems now this is Time: 06:29 actually right after Time: 06:31 now this is okay so I do have a map okay Time: 06:34 so this is up here right so this is the Time: 06:36 top of Alaska and for some reason let me Time: 06:39 see if I can plug this in here Time: 06:41 let me see if I can zoom in here Time: 06:44 there we go Time: 06:46 so check this out so this is the top Time: 06:48 this is the line that goes up and then Time: 06:50 it covers all of these places like hope Time: 06:52 point and other cities and uh I believe Time: 06:55 there are many systems up here uh that Time: 06:59 are actually defensive systems now Time: 07:01 Russia's Medvedev the same day June 14th Time: 07:05 but again the the actual line went out Time: 07:07 the 11th just three days later uh Time: 07:10 Medvedev comes out and saying uh that Time: 07:12 basically uh he actually said that um Time: 07:16 Wednesday there were no longer any moral Time: 07:18 limits to stop stop Moscow from Time: 07:20 destroying its enemies undersea Time: 07:23 communication cables given what he has Time: 07:25 seen with Western complicity in the Nord Time: 07:27 event it's admitted to have made the Time: 07:29 comments on his official channel on the Time: 07:31 telegram messaging application U.S media Time: 07:33 reports have suggested that Washington Time: 07:35 was aware of the ukr plot to take out Time: 07:38 the gas pipelines Kev has denied it it Time: 07:40 destroyed them unexplained explosion Time: 07:42 ruptured both pipelines of course Time: 07:45 and so on and they essentially said that Time: 07:48 they were going to uh Medvedev said that Time: 07:51 they now have a free hand to destroy Time: 07:52 enemies undersea Communications cable Time: 07:54 now this is just a few days later it's Time: 07:56 almost like as if the the cables got cut Time: 07:58 in Alaska which everybody goes oh it's Time: 08:01 just Alaska right well apparently Time: 08:04 there's some really really important Time: 08:06 defensive things up there was this a Time: 08:08 message from Russia if you look at the Time: 08:10 area and where they are and where their Time: 08:12 boats were and if again if there's Time: 08:14 somebody who tracks these uh military Time: 08:15 transponders was there anything in that Time: 08:17 neighborhood yeah the rest of the Time: 08:19 community can go look at that uh Dex Time: 08:21 didn't you think that this was a pretty Time: 08:23 strange timing for him to come out and Time: 08:24 just say uh that nor had happened a long Time: 08:26 time ago right after we have a major Time: 08:28 underwater C cable cut uh closest to Time: 08:32 Russia then Medvedev basically responds Time: 08:35 as if somebody left them a message Time: 08:37 saying hey did you cut this and they're Time: 08:39 saying well actually you know what after Time: 08:41 you did what you did we're totally fine Time: 08:43 cutting undersea cables in fact we Time: 08:45 should have no moral limits against it Time: 08:48 well the dates are definitely Time: 08:50 interesting even even if the event as Time: 08:52 they say happened a couple days earlier Time: 08:54 they didn't announce it they didn't talk Time: 08:56 about it that the government didn't Time: 08:58 confirm it any of that stuff until the Time: 09:00 same day that Russia comes out and says Time: 09:03 they're cutting under they have the Time: 09:05 right now to go after the undersea cable Time: 09:07 so you know of course we don't know but Time: 09:10 it's definitely worth asking that Time: 09:12 question and is it a coincidence that Time: 09:14 the same days that this is happening Time: 09:15 that uh this location and of course if Time: 09:19 they were going to do something to you Time: 09:22 know negotiate or to sort of you know Time: 09:24 say look at what we can do you know Time: 09:27 taking something you know like Alaska Time: 09:28 out it's significant but at the same Time: 09:30 time most people in the continental US Time: 09:32 don't even know don't even think about Time: 09:34 it don't even care uh they're more Time: 09:36 worried about their internet and and Time: 09:37 what's happening here but you know and Time: 09:39 I'm sure that people in Alaska care Time: 09:40 obviously but that's an ideal Time: 09:43 opportunity for you know them to do Time: 09:45 something and say yeah we're not Time: 09:47 bluffing and this was multi-days people Time: 09:50 in Alaska in fact if you go to internet Time: 09:52 outage on Twitter you can see the last Time: 09:53 week There's Been lots of crazy stuff Time: 09:55 now uh now you could say oh well Time: 09:57 internet is always going out all over Time: 09:59 the world at all times uh the Dex and I Time: 10:02 actually had a conversation about this Time: 10:03 of course there's a top a ton of outages Time: 10:05 what my question was is why on the 17th Time: 10:09 and actually the 14th and several years Time: 10:12 why on the 17th so many places Time: 10:14 experience it at the same time so much Time: 10:16 so like even Johannesburg in South Time: 10:18 Africa in uh in Italy in in Rome and a Time: 10:22 few other places there were big alerts Time: 10:24 that they were critical outages like Time: 10:27 lines were being cut all at the same Time: 10:29 time now there was a huge rumor total Time: 10:31 speculation it was a gentleman's video I Time: 10:33 put it up on Twitter basically said that Time: 10:35 he heard from somebody uh that 250 Time: 10:37 cities were being held hostage by cyber Time: 10:41 attackers right here's the thing about Time: 10:43 any kind of event like that we would Time: 10:45 never know it happened unless they Time: 10:47 didn't pay now we have seen and we've Time: 10:49 actually covered where Airlines and Time: 10:51 other huge companies have actually paid Time: 10:53 the ransom to these uh cyber hacks and Time: 10:56 they basically said you know here's the Time: 10:59 money and they released whatever they Time: 11:01 had now we see that actually a lot it Time: 11:03 depends on how important it is now if Time: 11:05 it's Banking and things like that if Time: 11:07 they hold something like that they will Time: 11:09 get paid and they have been paid now Time: 11:11 that after they get paid they have Time: 11:13 actually several times tracked down Time: 11:15 because they usually get paid through Time: 11:16 like Bitcoin or something they actually Time: 11:18 one time they paid the hackers and then Time: 11:21 the FBI or some agency was able to track Time: 11:24 it Midway and get most of the money back Time: 11:27 after they transferred it and got Time: 11:29 everything released so here's the thing Time: 11:31 we reported the 48 hours to uh Time: 11:34 the the whole 48 hours to the the bank Time: 11:37 thing and then of course what happened Time: 11:40 is everybody saw that and especially the Time: 11:42 short we did uh we basically said 48 Time: 11:44 hours until this event and they're Time: 11:45 threatening this Time: 11:47 everybody said oh waiting it's been 72 Time: 11:49 hours it's been a hundred hours it's Time: 11:51 it's uh been four days five days nothing Time: 11:54 happened meanwhile we had a massive Time: 11:56 Microsoft attack that was Global and Time: 11:58 public and we had the eib hit in fact Time: 12:02 the uh the European Investment Bank was Time: 12:04 hit by a Cyber attack after Russian Time: 12:06 hackers vow to bring Financial system Time: 12:08 down now it may not have been as big Time: 12:10 again our video is not saying that in 48 Time: 12:12 hours the world ends not even that Time: 12:14 European system was going to end that Time: 12:17 they were threatening to do something Time: 12:18 and basically that video was to prepare Time: 12:21 anybody for a potential event if you're Time: 12:23 in Europe we said basically hey you need Time: 12:25 to have a basic plan and this should be Time: 12:27 kind of a kick in the butt to get that Time: 12:29 basic plan but people saw after three Time: 12:31 days they were like oh the world hasn't Time: 12:33 ended we never said that we said that Time: 12:35 there would be uh that there was a huge Time: 12:37 Threat by three very uh you know Time: 12:39 extremely serious uh groups saying that Time: 12:42 they would take them Well turns out and Time: 12:44 again they don't cover this stuff much Time: 12:46 and again I think that a lot of these Time: 12:48 things actually pay the ransom and then Time: 12:50 it goes away quietly it says the Time: 12:52 European Investment Bank has been hit by Time: 12:54 a Cyber attack suspected to have been Time: 12:56 orchestrated by Russian hackers days Time: 12:58 after threats to bring down the Western Time: 13:00 Financial system the eib spokesman Time: 13:03 confirmed that it was currently facing a Time: 13:05 Cyber attack affecting the availability Time: 13:07 of some of its websites the spokesman Time: 13:09 said with the eib addressing the issue Time: 13:11 the attack comes days after Time: 13:12 russian-speaking hackers threatened to Time: 13:14 launch cyber attacks against Western Time: 13:15 financial institutions over support for Time: 13:18 ukr a group including the kilnet Time: 13:21 rebuffed the madman according to the Time: 13:22 formula no money no weapons no kiv Time: 13:24 regime you remember that so this is in Time: 13:27 this is connected in their eyes now also Time: 13:30 when you look at the comments of that Time: 13:32 video people said that there were ATMs Time: 13:34 down across Europe so again I can't Time: 13:37 verify that but the people that are Time: 13:38 actually commenting you can go look at Time: 13:40 themselves people said that their Bank Time: 13:41 wasn't available their app wasn't Time: 13:43 available their ATMs were not available Time: 13:45 and that ATMs were down and they drove Time: 13:47 from place to place to place to place Time: 13:49 and could not find an ATM to actually Time: 13:50 get money out during this period of time Time: 13:53 so did they hit it did they get paid off Time: 13:55 we don't know but what I will say is the Time: 13:58 people's attitude is like oh well Time: 13:59 nothing happened the thing is is Time: 14:01 everybody is in their own bubble because Time: 14:03 something doesn't affect us especially Time: 14:05 when it's an internet outage when I say Time: 14:07 it's a nationwide internet outage and 60 Time: 14:09 cities are are actually involved we have Time: 14:12 verified proof of it even uh down Time: 14:14 detector and Comcast says hey we had a Time: 14:16 huge problem the the one town that's not Time: 14:18 affected that person will go no this Time: 14:20 isn't oh my internet's been fine all Time: 14:22 week but that's because their internet Time: 14:24 was not affected that's it actually kind Time: 14:27 of is a reflection of how people think Time: 14:28 if it doesn't personally affect them Time: 14:30 then it's not happening and it's kind of Time: 14:33 how we internalize what is going on Time: 14:34 around us it's why a lot of people are Time: 14:36 not afraid of world war three because Time: 14:39 our even our grandparents they might Time: 14:41 have been sent away to World War III but Time: 14:43 we didn't have it here whereas Europeans Time: 14:45 who had it on their land and actually Time: 14:47 might have had family members that had Time: 14:49 their house blown up it's a whole Time: 14:50 different story it's a lot it's a lot Time: 14:52 closer to home than say Somebody went Time: 14:54 somewhere else uh far off land and it Time: 14:57 was having a war somewhere else that's Time: 14:59 why I believe many people are here are Time: 15:01 not so much afraid we we believe this uh Time: 15:05 safety we've got this bubble of safety Time: 15:07 around us well that bubble of safety is Time: 15:09 popping and then NATO moves to protect Time: 15:12 undersea pipelines cable is concerned Time: 15:15 mounts over Russian sabotage threat uh Time: 15:17 Dex do you wanna do you want to talk Time: 15:19 about this Time: 15:21 so this was obviously right after an in Time: 15:24 response but this is not necessarily new Time: 15:27 because we covered about a year ago Time: 15:29 um that they were worried and a lot of Time: 15:31 the nations in the the Baltic areas and Time: 15:33 in the um uh you know from UK all the Time: 15:36 way from Sweden Finland all of those Time: 15:38 countries were concerned about the Time: 15:39 undersea cables and they had thought Time: 15:41 that that Russia was snooping around but Time: 15:44 after they came out and said hey it's Time: 15:45 fair game uh then uh NATO launched this Time: 15:49 new center uh Friday right after it to Time: 15:52 protect the undersea pipeline so they're Time: 15:54 trying to you know put an actual program Time: 15:57 in place where they're going to start Time: 15:58 actively going out and checking Time: 16:00 everything and monitoring it because Time: 16:03 they think that Russian ships have Time: 16:04 actively mapped all the critical Time: 16:07 infrastructure the undersea Time: 16:09 infrastructure and they want to make Time: 16:10 sure it's protected Time: 16:12 now mind you they say that they have Time: 16:14 actively mapped this but what if they Time: 16:16 don't know what connects to what now Time: 16:18 that Alaskan line they don't is there a Time: 16:21 possibility they don't know what that Time: 16:23 that under uh undersea cable actually Time: 16:25 went to maybe they cut it to see what it Time: 16:28 affected uh that's the thing if you look Time: 16:30 at Alaska there's not a hundred cables Time: 16:32 going into it there is a set that goes Time: 16:34 from I would assume my state or Time: 16:37 somewhere around us or Canada that goes Time: 16:39 up to it and then there's one line the Time: 16:41 quintillion line that goes out and Time: 16:43 around and connects to all of these Time: 16:44 different areas so I wonder if they were Time: 16:47 testing that to see if that cut Time: 16:48 hard-line Communications and at least Time: 16:51 some of these now cable is now the home Time: 16:54 of many people's landlines or their you Time: 16:57 know today's edition of landlines many Time: 17:00 people do not even have landline phones Time: 17:02 so if you take out the fiber active Time: 17:03 Fiber Optic internet most people lose Time: 17:06 not only their internet not only their Time: 17:08 TV but they also lose their landline Time: 17:10 phones now when this is coupled with an Time: 17:13 attack against say cell towers or the Time: 17:16 power grid that is something that could Time: 17:18 be extremely extremely dangerous Time: 17:21 and it's of course Russia's military is Time: 17:23 more active in the Atlantic and NATO Time: 17:25 fears it could sabotage under C cables Time: 17:26 to disrupt countries this was another Time: 17:28 piece that we covered on May 3rd Time: 17:31 again they have talked about this a ton Time: 17:33 and then of course uh the vandals Time: 17:35 locally so we had our our cable out for Time: 17:38 two days and essentially they said that Time: 17:40 it was just some guy that went up and Time: 17:42 cut three main cables uh that basically Time: 17:45 permanently took the internet out for a Time: 17:48 couple days until they actually replaced Time: 17:49 the whole subset of cables so when you Time: 17:52 do something like this it's not just a Time: 17:54 quick fix that it's done in an hour it Time: 17:56 actually they had whole Facebook groups Time: 17:58 uh you know a complaint lined on on Time: 18:00 Facebook locally here because so many Time: 18:02 people were uh just going nuts without Time: 18:04 internet Time: 18:05 it said that vandals cut a fiber in Time: 18:07 Tukwila resulting in a Comcast and Time: 18:09 Xfinity service outage that is also Time: 18:11 impacting Burien Renton and Ken Time: 18:12 according to statement it did South End Time: 18:15 Seattle and of course parts of even Time: 18:17 green like what from what I heard and Time: 18:19 then Time: 18:20 this was a huge huge area and it was not Time: 18:23 fixed immediately it was fixed uh in the Time: 18:25 slightest bit it was like 24 hours in Time: 18:27 some of the places it was 48 hours until Time: 18:29 it was fixed and I heard three days on Time: 18:32 Facebook but again it was it was about a Time: 18:34 day and a half for our stuff to get Time: 18:36 restored and it it's very very odd uh to Time: 18:40 say the least the same time people were Time: 18:41 saying the same thing in Florida same Time: 18:43 thing in Salt Lake City uh if you go Time: 18:45 back to the 17th like even the the thing Time: 18:47 internet outage there was a huge huge Time: 18:49 outages uh in fact this was the tweet Time: 18:52 from that day and uh of course it says Time: 18:56 most have zero access to the internet Time: 18:58 cable TV or phone 51 reported a total Time: 19:02 blackout 31 landline and 18 TV these Time: 19:06 were the areas affected so if you were Time: 19:08 somewhere in here or in Idaho or Nevada Time: 19:10 yeah there were there wasn't much going Time: 19:12 on but in all of these major cities Time: 19:14 there was huge huge outages so that was Time: 19:17 something that was extremely uh just it Time: 19:21 was weird and this started mind you ours Time: 19:24 started that exact same time and they Time: 19:26 said that our cables were actually cut Time: 19:28 so if it was something digital and just Time: 19:31 some sort of update which again Time: 19:32 everybody thought that this was super Time: 19:35 super fishy when you went to Twitter Time: 19:37 that day people said that they cut down Time: 19:38 the outage map they shut it off they Time: 19:41 weren't answering customer service uh Time: 19:42 calls anywhere and then of course they Time: 19:44 turned off the uh the outage map in all Time: 19:47 of the areas that were affected so Time: 19:49 people actually said that they they Time: 19:50 called and asked and they said that they Time: 19:52 were giving no answers to this so again Time: 19:55 there were people all over over the Time: 19:57 place saying that they had more than a Time: 19:59 day out some people said that they Time: 20:01 couldn't trade or or do their work for Time: 20:03 four days that their businesses closed Time: 20:04 down because they couldn't make Time: 20:06 transactions so something was bigger Time: 20:08 here than people think as far as the Time: 20:10 48-hour threat the eib did get hit and Time: 20:13 as far as the Microsoft events Time: 20:17 Uh Oh and before that we had uh yeah Time: 20:19 that the Microsoft outage most likely Time: 20:21 Russian back group aiming to drive Time: 20:23 division in the west and so the hackers Time: 20:25 believe to be behind recent attack that Time: 20:27 took some of Microsoft Services offline Time: 20:29 are likely to be a pro-russian linked Time: 20:31 group now we don't know exactly who Time: 20:33 really did this stuff and this facilities that Time: 21:03 were recently hit in a global hacking Time: 21:06 campaign again they say Global and then Time: 21:09 of course Time: 21:11 uh the European Investment Bank so all Time: 21:14 of these happened in just the last uh Time: 21:16 week as far as the events and then going Time: 21:18 back a little bit further you look and Time: 21:20 you go hold on a lot of this was kind of Time: 21:23 preemptively talked about Time: 21:25 uh Dex as far as you know uh people are Time: 21:29 just they're not uh everybody thinks Time: 21:32 it's not going to happen to them sort of Time: 21:33 like people don't think that some sort Time: 21:35 of horrific crime is going to happen in Time: 21:37 their next door neighbor's house they Time: 21:38 think every nothing is going to ever
